We work at the intersection of ML/AI, biophysics, structural biology, and multi-omics. Our lab develops computational/AI approaches to study protein interactions, molecular systems, and disease mechanisms, with applications in target/drug discovery and translational biology.
In general, we look for candidates with one of two backgrounds: (1) major in biology with extensive experience in bioinformatics (particulalry for PhD students); or (2) major in quantitative science with experience developing ML/AI models for biological systems (for students/postdocs/technicians).
Open Positions
- Postdoctoral Fellow
We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow with training and research experience in computational chemistry, computational biophysics, bioinformatics, or a closely related field. Candidates should have a strong publication record, including two or more first-author publications, and experience with modern ML/AI models, such as graph neural networks (GNNs) and protein language models (pLMs).
Successful candidate will have opportunities to develop new computational methods and pursue interdisciplinary research involving protein–protein interactions, protein dynamics and energetics, biological networks, and disease-focused applications. Applicants with U.S. citizenship may also be eligible for local and regional postdoctoral fellowships.
- Research Associate
We welcome applications from recent B.S. or M.S. graduates who has research interest and with experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, data science, programming, or related quantitative fields. Please see official job posting for details.
- PhD Student
We always welcome inquiries from highly motivated PhD and MD/PhD students whose research interests align with the lab. At times, there may be visiting student positions available. Please feel free to contact Dr. Zhao to discuss potential opportunities.
